Jackie MCLEAN

(1931)

Jackie McLean (1931-2006), an alto saxophonist with a moving, plaintive sound, was a mainstay of the Blue Note label from the mid-1950s to the end of the following decade. He also taught the secrets of jazz to several generations of improvisers. The Swiss photographer Dany Gignoux captured him in 1991 at the Cully Jazz Festival.
